FLORENCE, Wis. — Using athleticism and ball movement to push the tempo of the game — along with a double-double of 23 points and 13 rebounds from junior Patrick Millan — Florence cruised past Phelps 74-30 here Friday evening.

Braden Boettcher drained 17 points including five triples, while sophomore point guard Evan Johnson dished out 11 assists in the Northern Lakes Conference matchup. The Bobcats got out to an early double-digit lead and never looked back.

“We put in a new transition offense that we tried out tonight, as well as a different half-court offense that both needed game reps,” said Florence head coach Bryan Bomberg. “Our offense was a bit sloppy at times tonight, but the majority of our turnovers were in transition, so we can live with that.”

Bomberg added that he felt that on the defensive end of the floor, the Bobcats played uninspired.

There were no fans in attendance for the game, as Phelps has a COVID-19 policy that they won’t compete in any indoor athletic events if spectators are allowed. There was also no JV game on the evening.

Hunter Meisted led the Knights with 13 points.

Florence, who improves to 5-3 on the season, travel to Three Lakes on Tuesday for another NLC matchup.
