LadyCats fall to Crandon, 77-36

FLORENCE, Wis. — Florence held its own through the first half before falling to Crandon 77-36 in Northern Lakes Conference girls basketball Monday.

The LadyCats trailed 31-18 at halftime but the Cardinals went on a 12-0 run to start the second stanza.

“The first half we did a good job of battling,” said Florence coach Brad Perry. “Crandon is No. 1 in our conference for a reason. They took advantage of our youth.”

Isabella Millan, a freshman, led Florence with 24 points. Lacey Enders added five points.

“We have to do a better job of communicating on defense, and keep improving our basketball IQ,” Perry said. “Bella Millan played well against a top-notch team,” he added.

Perry was pleased with Florence’s free throw shooting as Millan hit 11 of 13 and the team was 13 of 17 overall.

Rounding out the scoring were Abigail Price with three points and Paige Uren and Victoria Peterson, two apiece.

Florence (4-8, 2-3) travels to Elcho on Thursday.

Crandon (9-3, 6-0) will host Rhinelander on Thursday.

Florence 18 18 — 36

Crandon 31 46 — 77
