IRONWOOD — The third Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association U.P. basketball poll for the 2021 season has been tabulated.

Iron Mountain’s boys team (11-0) comes in at No. 2 in the Division 1-3 poll again this week. The Mountaineers received one first place vote and 21 poll points. Escanaba (11-0) received the other four first place votes and 24 poll points to take the first place spot for the third week in a row.

The Eskymos travel to Iron Mountain for a non-conference game tonight, with a 6:15 p.m. Central tip off scheduled.

The No. 3 and No. 4 spots remain unchanged in the Division 1-3 boys poll, while Menominee (5-3), with a victory over No. 3 Marquette last week, moves into the No. 5 spot replacing Kingsford (7-4).

Munising (9-1) jumped ahead of Dollar Bay in this week’s Division 4 boys poll, to No. 3. The Blue Bolts lost at Jeffers (10-1) on Wednesday night; Jeffers received votes in the Division 1-3 poll, from the voting panel.

Another newcomer to the poll out of Menominee County is the Stephenson (7-3) boys, who take over the No. 5 spot in Division 4.

There is a new No. 1 in the Division 1-3 girls poll. Previous No. 2 Sault Ste. Marie (10-0), eked ahead of Menominee with three first place votes and 23 poll points. The Lady Blue Devils defeated No. 3 St. Ignace (6-3) last week, for the second time this season.

The Lady Maroons received the other two first place votes and 22 poll points from the voting panel.

The Division 4 girls poll remained unchanged from last week to this week.
