Johnson collects 5 RBI’s on 2 XBH

DUNBAR, Wis. — Florence improved to 2-0 on the season, with a, 15-9 baseball victory over Northern Lakes Conference rival Goodman-Pembine Tuesday evening at Dunbar.

“Overall, we’re still experiencing some growing pains. But we have a talented group of young players who will get better each game,” said veteran Florence head coach Dave LaPoint.

Evan Johnson recorded 5 RBI’s for the Bobcats, with a double and a triple. Jacob Smith, Kyle Leffler, Logan Schuls, Cole Sweig and Will Kelley all also had two hits for Florence.

Sweig, Johnson and Kelley all toed the mound for Florence in the game, combining to fan eight, walk eight and allowing nine hits.

Kevin Strietzel and Ryan Erickson each had three hits for the Patriots, while Boone Larison had two hits.

Florence returns to NLC action tonight at 5 p.m., hosting White Lake. The Patriots travel to Elcho, also for a NLC game.
