Florence softball shuts out Cardinals; G-P Patriots rip Blue Jays

CRANDON, Wis. — Florence senior pitcher Sidney Tomczak fanned seven batters, while only walking one, and her Ladycats teammates cracked 13 hits, as Florence cruised past Northern Lakes Conference opponent Crandon 13-0 in five innings.

Freshman Morgan Tomczak tallied two doubles, while fellow freshman Isabella Millan cracked a triple in her 2-4 afternoon Senior Lacey Enders also went 2-4, as did Paige Uren, who hit a triple.

Freshman Victoria Peterson also went 2-4 from the plate, including a double.

“We have a young team, but we are coming along nicely,” said Florence head coach Dan Robinson. “The girls hit the ball well today.”

The Ladycats, who improved to 5-2 on the season, travel to Elcho on Monday. Florence then welcomes Three Lakes on Tuesday.

THREE LAKES, Wis. — Goodman-Pembine senior Kalen Berger struck out 12 batters, only allowed one walk and two earned runs, and the Patriots cracked a dozen hits as they defeated Three Lakes 14-8 Thursday in a Northern Lakes Conference softball game.

G-P senior Kalli Erickson had a team-high four hits, including a triple, while fellow senior Katelyn Nelson drove in three runs and also smacked a triple. Sierra Dettman also drove in three runs for the Patriots.

“We played a little sloppy in the field but our bats and our pitching pulled us through. We are raking at the plate right now,” said Lady patriots head coach Ryan Berger.

Erickson and Berger each scored three runs for G-P.

The Patriots will travel to non-conference rival Niagara on Tuesday.
