Kingsford hosts golf meet at Pine Grove

Iron Mountain’s Ramme ties for medalist

IRON MOUNTAIN — Kingsford’s golf teams hosted a triangular meet at Pine Grove Country Club on Monday. Iron Mountain sophomore Brett Ramme tied Westwood’s Tyler Annala for medalist with a 43.

Justin Richards of Westwood was runner-up with a 44.

Five players shot a 45 in the event — Ricky Brown of Iron Mountain, Matt Solda and Lance Harry of Kingsford, as well as Garrett Sundberg and Luke Mariuzza of Westwood.

The Patriots won the team title with a 177.

Jack Perpich carded a 47, Troy Watt a 48 and Eli Wittkopf a 68 to round out the host Flivvers lineup.

For the Mountaineers, Gabe Celello shot a 47, Joey Colavecchi carded a 54 and Zac Erickson shot a 72.

On the girls side, Westwood won the team championship with a 220, with Jillian Koski of the Patriots as medalist with a 49 and Laci Mottatt as runner-up with a 50.

Kingsford’s Grace Maki led the Flivvers with a team-low 52, which was third place overall. Amanda Yu and Bryonna Sanders each carded a 61, with Maggie Menghini coming in with a 62 and Christina Glodowski rounding out the Flivvers scores with a 74.

The Mountaineer girls shot a 273, led by Bella Rosenthal with at 63. Natalia Brown was next with a 67, followed by Lulu McCash, 70, and Lily Verrette, 73.

On Friday at Terrace Bluff Golf Course in Gladstone, Kingsford’s girls sent three golfers to a Great Northern Conference meet.

Grace Maki and Glodowski each shot a 57, while teammate Amy Reath came in with a 68.

On Thursday, the Flivver girls finished fourth as a team at the Escanaba Country Club in a GNC meet.

Sanders shot a team-low 63, while Menghini shot a 65. Yu was next with a 68, while Ella Rizzo carded a 73.

Both the Mountaineers and Flivvers compete in today’s Negaunee Invitational at Wawonowin Golf Course in Champion.
