Channing opener tonight

NEGAUNEE — The Superiorland Baseball League has announced its summer schedule with its fifth season opening today with a pair of games.

The adult-level amateur league will feature five teams with seven-inning games scheduled each Monday, except on the Fourth of July week, with several extra games included.

Games are scheduled to be played in Gwinn at the high school field across from Gwinn High School, at Irontown Field in Negaunee, in Escanaba and in Channing. Admission is free.

Coldwell Banker-Craig Heinonen will visit the Channing Railroaders at 6 p.m. Central time today. Channing looks to build upon its undefeated regular season of 2020, which included winning the Leo Durocher Memorial Tournament in the Copper Country.

The Railroaders also look to avenge a loss to Coldwell in the playoff semifinals last season that sent CB-CH to the playoff title for its first time.

On Thursday, Channing will play Elmer’s County Market at 6 p.m. Central time in Escanaba. Elmer’s is in its second year in the league and lost by a single run in the playoff championship game last summer to CB-CH.

Starting at $3.50/week.
