Virtual participation invited for Lake Antoine Classic

IRON MOUNTAIN — Pre-registration, which offers a reduced fee, ends today for the Lake Antoine Classic on Saturday, Aug. 28.

The Classic includes 15K, 5-Mile and Youth 2-Mile competitive runs and three non-competitive events; a 2-Mile Fun Run/Walk, the Lake Antoine Walk (5 miles) and a 15K Lake Fumee bike route, with all proceeds going to Special Olympics.

Top three male and female finishers in each age division in all competitive events will receive a medal and the top three male and female finishers overall in the 5M and 15K will receive plaques.

All events start and finish at Lake Antoine Park.

All registration is done online at runsignup.com, by searching for “The Lake Antoine Classic.” Registration closes on Aug. 26; there is no race day registration.

The opportunity to participate virtually is being offered to those who can’t attend the race but want to support Special Olympics. Register for the race and let organizers know via email at greg.kulas@att.net that you will be participating virtually.

“Run your chosen distance on your own and send us your time, and we will send you a Lake Antoine Classic T-shirt,” organizers said.

Tadych’s Family Market, First National Bank & Trust, and Systems Control are sponsoring the 44th annual Special Olympics benefit event.

Packet pickup will be at the park between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m., with events starting at 9 a.m. All participants are welcome to enjoy refreshments, bagels and fresh fruit after the event, compliments of Pepsi Cola of Iron Mountain and Tadych’s Family Market.

Starting at $3.50/week.
