KINGSFORD — Toby Wilcox ran for 205 yards and three touchdowns as Kingsford improved to 5-3 with a 35-21 win over Petoskey on Friday at Flivver Field.

The Northmen hit pay-dirt first, but Kingsford responded with four touchdowns in the second quarter and led 28-14 at halftime.

“Great all around team win tonight,” said Flivvers coach Mark Novara. “We were able to move the ball effectively on the ground.”

Michael Meneguzzo threw a pair of touchdown passes to anchor the scoring in the second frame, finding Lucca Rizzo on a 10-yard strike and then Zach Person on a 5-yard toss on the final play before the break. A 30-yard pass to Person set up one of the scores.

Wilcox was the game’s workhorse, carrying 28 times and scoring on runs of 6, 6, and 2 yards. Kingsford’s Diego Przeslakowski was credited for 40 yards on four touches.

Meneguzzo totaled 125 yards passing, connecting on 11 of 15.

“Toby Wilcox had a great game,” Novara said. “Petoskey tried to take Zach Person away in our passing game, which helped us run the ball. Our offensive line played well. Michael Menneguzzo really had a solid game for us.”

Apart from a 51-yard scoring run by Rippin Vining, the Flivvers held Petoskey’s ground game in check. The Northmen did manage 210 yards through the air.

Cole Myllyla had an interception for the Flivvers and Jack Bartolac recovered a fumble.

Kingsford will travel to face the U.P.’s No. 1-ranked team, Menominee, on Friday.
