Iron Mountain junior Joey Colavecchi and freshman Ian Martilla were also recognized by both conferences. Colavecchi earned West Pac first team honors and a Mid-Pen second team selection, while Martilla was given honorable mention on both teams.

Colavecchi was also named to both conferences’ all-defensive teams.

Kangas was joined on the West Pac Dream Team by conference player of the year Westwood senior Zach Carlson, Negaunee senior Gerald Johnson, Ishpeming senior Jayce Kipling and Houghton junior Mikko Salmi.

Joining Colavecchi on the West Pac all-defensive team were Carlson, Johnson, Houghton sophomore Kyle Primeau and Ishpeming junior Preston Gauthier.

Other players on the Iron Division first team included Negaunee junior Mason Sager, Westwood senior Garrett Sundberg, Westwood senior Marcus Boase and Negaunee junior Brody Bell.

Boase was picked as defensive player of the year and Westwood’s Luke Gray was named coach of the year.

West Iron County freshman Elijah Oberlin, who began the season on the Wykons’ junior varsity team, was also given honorable mention by the West Pac as well.

In the Mid Peninsula Conference, Kangas was joined on the first team by Westwood senior Zach Bechman, Negaunee’s Johnson, Ishpeming’s Kipling and Gladstone’s Kaden Gibbs.

Westwood’s Carlson was named the Mid-Pen’s player of the year. The Patriots won the varsity Mid-Pen championship, while Negaunee captured the JV title.
