ND’s Hord earns All-State honorable mention

IRON MOUNTAIN — North Dickinson senior Ashton Hord capped off her high school basketball career with a honorable mention on the AP Division 4 All-State team.

The Nordics’ standout guard averaged 14 points per game this season for North Dickinson and finished with 1,201 points in her career.

Division 4 first-teamers from the U.P. included Carney-Nadeau senior Tessa Wagner, Baraga senior Reide Osterman and Pickford senior Kennedy Guild.

Osterman was also recently named the 2022 U.P. Ms. Basketball.

Ewen-Trout creek junior Kate Borseth was picked to the second team, while Baraga coach Tyler Larson was named second-team all-state coach for leading his Vikings to the state semifinals.

St. Ignace senior Ally Schultz, who is a Ferris State University recruit, was named to the Division 3 first team, while Negaunee senior and Bemidji State University-bound Alyssa Hill was named to the Division 2 all-state second team.

Joining Hord as Division 4 honorable mentions from the U.P. were Ontonagon junior Makenna Uotila and Baraga junior Corina Jahfetson.

Calumet senior Marybeth Halonen was also given honorable mention in Division 3.
