Johnsons highlight NLC all-conference team

FLORENCE, Wis. — The Florence High School father and son duo of Kris Johnson and Evan Johnson headlined a sizable portion of Bobcats on the 2022 Northern Lakes Conference baseball team.

Evan Johnson, a junior on the Bobcats varsity squad, was named the league’s player of the year and was the lone unanimous selection to the Northern Lakes Conference first team.

Kris Johnson was named coach of the year for guiding the Bobcats to a first-place tie with Three Lakes-Phelps in the league title race.

Florence freshman Trent McLain made his mark on his team and the league quickly and was named to the first team as well. Senior Tyler Novak and sophomore William Kelley were selected to the second team, while senior Cole Sweig was given honorable mention.

Other first-team selections included Caden Palubicki, Curtis Paschen and Mason Mullins of Crandon, Ryan Erickson of Goodman-Pembine, Braden Brauer of Laona-Wabeno and Chase Melton, Cole Melton and LJ Terlizzi of Three Lakes-Phelps.

The NLC second team included Cole Shepherd of Crandon, Evan Schmidt of Elcho, Ely Marcy and Ryan Ehlert of Goodman-Pembine, Connor Taylor of Laona-Wabeno and Jared Kaufman of Three Lakes-Phelps.

Honorable mention was also given to Kevin Strietzel of Goodman-Pembine, Brady Shepard and Frank Shepard of Laona-Wabeno and Caden Wolosek and Sawyer Siedschlag of Three Lakes-Pembine.
