Trojans top local finishers at Badger Invite

NIAGARA, Wis. — The Forest Park Lady Trojans captured first and the Trojan boys finished second in the eight-team Badger Invitational Thursday at Niagara High School.

Led by two first-place finishes and six second-place results, the Lady Trojans compiled 109 points to defeat runner-up North Dickinson, which ended with 98. The host Northwoods Storm took third with 91.5, Stephenson placed fourth with 88, Crivitz wound up fifth with 84, Carney-Nadeau finished sixth with 79, Iron Mountain placed seventh with 66 and Norway finished eighth with 29.5.

Forest Park freshman Vienna Price paced her team with a win in the 1,600 and seconds in the 800 and the 3,200. Elsie Williams topped the field in the 400 for FP’s other victory.

Other individual second-place finishers for the Lady Trojans included Ava Fischer in the 100 and 300 hurdles and Lily Sarder in the triple jump. Additionally, Fischer and Sarder teamed with Ella Gasperich and Haven Van Sickle to place second in the 800 relay.

The top girls performer on the day was Northwoods Storm’s Kamdan Johnson. The Florence High School athlete was victorious in both the 100 hurdles and the 300 hurdles and teamed with Naomi Millan, Brynn Sullivan and Marley Jones to win the 1,600 relay.

Iron Mountain’s Bella Pickett captured the 100 for the Mountaineer girls top finish, while Lauren Adams led Norway with a win in the 200.

North Dickinson recorded two victories – Mya Grunlund in the 3,200 and Aubrey Applekamp in the high jump.

In the boys event, Crivitz ran away with the team title by scoring 190 points. The Trojans placed second with 129, followed by Iron Mountain with 107, Northwoods Storm with 96, Norway with 69, North Dickinson with 30, Stephenson with 27 and Carney-Nadeau with 4.

The top individual finisher from the five local teams was Iron Mountain’s Matthew Colavecchi.

The senior won the 100 and the 200 and contributed to the winning 400 relay team with Luke Wolfe, Cooper Pigeon and Bryce Davis.

Pigeon and Davis also combined with Alex Jayne and Micah Treiber to top the field in the 800 relay.

The Trojans posted three individual wins with Dietrich Rasner capturing the 300 hurdles, Kevin Giuliani besting the field in the discus and Vic Guiliani finishing first in the high jump.

Forest Park also won the 3,200 relay with the quartet of Joey Mainville, Max Mainville, William Hoffman and Izaiah Tarter.

Additionally, Northwoods Storm’s Truth Setner brought home a first in the 400.

Norway’s top finish was a runner-up result from its 800 relay team of Maddex Burklund, Sean Dowrick, Kaleb Lapine and Anthony Pineda.

North Dickinson’s Miles Lindholm topped the Nordic boys with a third in the 110 hurdles.
