Adams explodes for 26 in first half In Norway win

NORWAY — Lauren Adams scored 26 points in the first half and finished with 28 as the Norway Knights rolled past visiting North Central in a Skyline Central Conference game Thursday.

Adams recorded 12 points in the first quarter and Paytan Carlson connected on two 3-pointers to spark the Knights (4-0) to a 24-2 lead heading into the second quarter.

The Norway duo continued to shine in the second period with Adams adding 14 points and Carlson contributing nine on three triples.

In all, the Knights buried 10 shots from beyond the arc.

North Central (2-4) outscored the Knights 14-9 in the second half under a running clock. Autumn Triest scored sank two of her three 3-pointers in the second half and led her team with 11 points.

North Central was scheduled for a road game at Superior Central (1-4) Friday night, while the Knights were slated for a showdown with 8-0 Baraga on Friday as well.

CRYSTAL FALLS – The Forest Park Lady Trojans outscored West Iron County 26-19 in the second half to post a win over their Iron County rival Thursday at Eddie Chambers Gymnasium.

Leading 28-26 at the halftime break, Forest Park (4-3) edged out to a 38-33 advantage after three quarters and then outscored the Wykons 16-12 over the final eight minutes.

The sister duo of Elsie and Audrey Williams led the Lady Trojans with 15 points each. Aubrie Waara-Shamion and Vienna Price added seven apiece and Harper Anderson contributed six.

Elsie Williams also finished with five assists and three steals, Waara-Shamion recorded six rebounds and three steals and Price hauled down six rebounds.

FP sank six 3-point shots in the game, while WIC hit two.

“I thought we played one of our better games tonight,” FP coach Kim Bjork said afterward. “We were communicating on defense, and we played hard for four quarters.”

Bristol Shamion topped the Wykons with 14 points, Laurel Johnson added nine and Lacey Shamion finished with seven.

The Wykons are off until Tuesday when they host L’Anse (4-2). The Lady Trojans were scheduled to travel to Stephenson (1-3) on Friday.

NIAGARA, Wis. – The Niagara Lady Badgers held visiting Wausaukee to just four points in the second half on their way to a Marinette and Oconto Conference triumph Thursday.

Niagara (7-5) built a 28-10 lead after the first half on the strength of 11 points from Sydney Swanson and 10 from Alivia Kleikamp. The high-scoring duo finished with 16 and 18 points, respectively.

The Lady Badgers finished their victory by outscoring Wausaukee 16-4 over the final 18 minutes and the Rangers finished with only five made field goals.

Niagara’s next game is slated for Tuesday when they travel to Marinette to face St. Thomas Aquinas Academy (1-6).
