Badgers hold off IM 4-2

Niagara’s Wyatt Dunkes, Reid Schroeder and Remington Buchanan slugged two hits apiece as the Badgers defeated Iron Mountain 4-2 in non-conference baseball Tuesday at Niagara.

Niagara (5-2) scored twice in the first and sixth innings, while the Mountaineers (3-4) managed a run in both the sixth and seventh innings.

Buchanan pitched four scoreless innings for the Badgers, allowing just one hit and striking out 10. Dwight Hedmark relieved for two innings, scattering three hits, walking one and surrendering a run. Brayden Bartels sealed the win in the seventh, allowing three hits and only one run as a Mountaineers rally fell short.

Connor Pickett slashed three singles for Iron Mountain while Brayden Kassin cracked a solo home run and a double. Gavin Winters added two singles.

Kassin and Max White shared the pitching duties for Iron Mountain, fanning eight.
