Florence notches key conference win

Florence kept pace in the Northern Lakes Conference baseball race with a 10-8 win at home Tuesday against Laona-Wabeno.

The Bobcats improved to 3-1 in the NLC while the Rebels dropped to 4-1. Crandon is also 3-1.

Florence’s Carson Chrisman ripped three singles and drew a walk, scoring twice and driving in a run. Mason Koski doubled to bring in two runs while Carter Reed tripled and Promice Setner doubled.

Kade Larson added two singles in the Bobcats’ 10-hit attack. Kolton Campbell singled and collected two RBIs.

“Carter Reed found a way to get on base (hit twice by pitches) and scored three times, and Campbell had some great at-bats for us in this one,” said Florence coach Kris Johnson. “Larson and Chrisman both had multiple base hits for us. A great conference win for our team.”

Koski pitched five innings, allowing seven hits, six runs (two earned), and striking out 10. Bradly Steber finished the win, allowing two runs and fanning two.

“Koski and Steber were tough on the mound,” Johnson said.

Laona-Wabeno stranded 12 baserunners despite having 10 hits, including three by Reegan Roy.

Florence will host Three Lakes/Phelps today.
