Boundary Waters club invites public to Recreation Lanes

Boundary Waters Musky Club member Casey McCormick shows an exceptional tiger musky caught and released last fall in the Northwoods. The club will have its annual Expo from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at Recreation Lanes in Iron Mountain.

IRON MOUNTAIN — Boundary Waters Musky Club will host its annual Expo from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, in the Antoine Banquet Room at Recreation Lanes in Iron Mountain.

The event will feature prize raffles, tackle sales and swaps, and presentations by guest speakers. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.

At 1 p.m., Andy Hendrickson , owner of Hendo’s Angling Expeditions, will share tips and techniques anglers of any skill level can utilize to target muskies throughout the year.

Wisconsin and Michigan fisheries officials will present an overview of area muskellunge management at 2 p.m. They will discuss future initiatives and the ongoing partnership between BWMC and the Departments of Natural Resources in the two states.

Steve Heiting will be the keynote speaker at 3 p.m. Heiting is managing editor of Musky Hunter magazine and a frequent guest on “The Musky Hunter” TV show. It was recently announced he will be induced into the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame this year.

“Start Fast with Early Season Muskies” is the title of his seminar.

An annual membership to the Boundary Waters Musky Club is $10 for an individual or $15 for a family. Dinner will be provided for members around 5 p.m. More information is available on the club’s Facebook page.
