Free fishing next weekend in Wisconsin

OUTDOORS REPORT IRON MOUNTAIN — The Pete “Toad” Church Ice Fishing Derby hosted by Homestead-Aurora Conservation Club takes place Saturday, Jan. 20, coinciding with Wisconsin’s free fishing weekend. Register in advance at Bob’s Midland Service in Aurora, Wis., and fish anywhere. Entry fee is $10, or free for children ages 12 and under. Free fishing weekend Jan. 20-21 in Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will host a Free Fishing Weekend across the state Jan. 20-21 to share the fun and excitement of winter fishing. No fishing license or trout and salmon stamps are required. Anglers can fish in state waters where there is an open fishing season. All other fishing regulations apply, including limits on the size and number of fish that can be kept and any seasons when anglers must release certain fish species.
