For either species, hunters can apply for harvest authorizations or purchase preference points toward future drawings at GoWild.wi.gov or through an authorized license agent. IRONWOOD — A trail reroute agreement has been reached in Gogebic County that will allow an important snowmobile trail segment to remain open this winter. Snow River Mountain Resort (formerly Big Snow Resorts) — part of Midwest Family Ski Resorts — announced in a Sept. 13 email the resort would no longer allow snowmobile or all-terrain vehicle operation on resort property. The closure along Snowmobile Trail UP 2 eliminated trail access between Wakefield and Ironwood, affecting the communities of Bessemer and Ironwood most directly. IRON MOUNTAIN — Menominee County narrowly holds the top spot in Michigan for the most bucks taken during the 16-day firearm deer season that ended Wednesday. As of 5:30 p.m. Friday, the Upper Peninsula county’s buck harvest was listed at 2,483 on the Department of Natural Resources’ online reporting system.
