IR man, 67, killed in crash with tractor-trailer in Baraga County

COVINGTON TOWNSHIP — An Iron River man died Sunday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash in Baraga County that left another person with minor injuries. The crash was reported about 2:30 p.m. Sunday on M-28 near Pirkola Road in Covington Township, according to Baraga County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies found a tractor-truck overturned across M-28 and engulfed in flames after striking and breaking a power line, according to the news release. Kayaker’s body found after bay search near Menominee

MENOMINEE — An individual who failed to return Friday evening while kayaking in Lake Michigan was found dead overnight near Menominee. The Menominee Police Department received a report of an overdue kayaker about 7:37 p.m. Friday. The person had launched into Green Bay near Veterans Memorial Park that morning and had not returned as expected, according to a news release.
