Troubling votes by Bergman

U.S. Rep. Jack Bergman wants to make sure pregnant women don’t get treated fairly. How do we know that? Bergman voted against the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act on Sept. 17. Asians don’t get off any better. On the same day, Bergman voted against a resolution (H. Res 908) that condemned all forms of anti-Asian sentiment as related to COVID-19. Persons of different races, color or national origin get no better treatment. Two different views on Trump and what’s at stake in election

EDITOR: We’ve recently been treated to fawning letters of praise for the current White House occupant. Pardon me if I don’t get it. This man has mocked and humiliated a disabled person, reportedly wanted disabled vets excluded from his parades because “nobody wants to see that.” He has mocked the grief of Gold Star families, referred to POWs and dead soldiers as “suckers’ and “losers.” (I prefer men who didn’t have bone spurs.) Photos in Daily News set poor example on masks, social distancing

EDITOR: It continually saddens me to see group pictures with no masks or social distancing being published in the Daily News. This would include golf outings, businesses and social organizations. Many of these are with participants in close contact of each other, without masks. I feel that the paper, in spite of publishing articles showing the necessity to follow the CDC guidelines, appears to be ignoring and promoting the opposite message. Don’t be passive this election year

EDITOR: We are one month away from the election and this brings a couple things to mind. “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good people to do nothing.” — this idea has been cited by many back as far as the 1860s. Don’t be passive. Speak your mind.
