Doll club to have first fall meeting

EAGLE RIVER, Wis. — The Enchanted Doll Club of the Northwoods will have its first fall meeting at 1 p.m. Thursday in the meeting room of the Kalmar Community Center, 1011 N. Railroad St. in Eagle River. Dawn Brogle of Eagle River will present a program on royalty with dolls representing kings, queens, princes and princesses, real and fictional. Attendees are invited to come to the meeting, wearing their tiaras and sharing their royal dolls as well. Geology club hosts presentation Wednesday

FLORENCE, Wis. — The Northwoods Geology Club will host a presentation by Esther Stewart on the Midcontinent rift at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Wild Rivers Interpretive Center in Florence. Stewart is a bedrock geologist from the Wisconsin Geological and Natural History Survey and a senior geologist at UW Madison. Her focus is Precambrian Geology, specifically mapping Wisconsin's oldest rocks. The regular business meeting will follow the presentation. As always meetings are open to the public with no dues or fees. Door prizes given at every meeting.
