CRYSTAL FALLS — A new series of bimonthly Senior Days at Fortune Lake Lutheran Camp will begin Monday with the Rev. David Van Kley as guest speaker. Participants can learn about the phenomenon of Christian Nationalism in America and discuss how best to respond as citizens. Kley will identify and explain the roots of Christian Nationalism in the U.S. and why it is a concern. A retired Evangelical Lutheran Church in America pastor, Kley served several congregations in the Upper Peninsula — including Amasa, Stambaugh, Ishpeming and Wakefield — as well as in Custer, South Dakota. ...
IRON MOUNTAIN — The Strong Tower Church in Iron Mountain will host a Community Outreach Cookout starting at noon Saturday at the church. They will have food, games for kids and adults, bounce house, prizes, as well as a backpack and school supply giveaway. The church is offering the event free of charge as a way to show community support, with “no strings attached.” All are welcome. The church is at 614 Carpenter Ave. in Iron Mountain. The Fellowship Hall is accessible to all. Those needing assistance in using the elevator will find a phone number posted on the door that will summon a person downstairs to help. Families and individuals are encouraged to come to enjoy a good meal and the company of others.
