GFWC sets meeting for November, December

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Iron Mountain-Kingsford General Federation of Women’s Clubs has announced the regular November and December meetings will be at the Chippewa Club in Iron Mountain. Members are to note the change in location of the regular meeting at Pine Grove Country Club. The Nov. 7 meeting will honor area women veterans. Stamp club meets Tuesday

IRON MOUNTAIN — The monthly meeting of the Northwoods Philatelic Society stamp club will be 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Fellowship Room of First Lutheran Church, 1210 S. Stephenson Ave. in Iron Mountain. The church is between Domino’s Pizza and Slumberland Furniture. A short business meeting and educational program will be followed by the usual informal stamp club auction. Geology club to have final 2025 meeting

FLORENCE, Wis. — The Northwoods Geology Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the lower level of the Florence Natural Resource Center. All ages are welcome to attend what will be the final meeting of the year; the club plans to resume in April. Drawings for door prizes take place at the end of the meeting. Election of new officers will take place. They will also have a rock identification session. Attendees are encouraged to bring specimens in to see what they have. Post 50 to host fish fry tonight

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Uren-Cooper-Johnson American Legion Post 50 of Iron Mountain will host a fish fry from 4:30 to 7 p.m. today at the hall. Customers will have a choice of a three-piece cod, eight breaded, five-piece Alaskan walleye (pollock) or all-you-can-eat smelt dinner. The meals will also include fries or homemade chips, baked beans and cole slaw. Dine-in or takeout is available. For more information or to place an order, call 906-774-5797.
