Post 145 plans breakfast July 27

NORWAY — The Norway American Legion Post 145 will host an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, July 27, at the hall. Menu includes scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, French toast, hash brown potatoes, toast, coffee, milk, juice and fruit salad. Cost is $10 per person; ages 6 and younger eat for free. Everyone is welcome. The post is at 612 Main St. in Norway.

Geology Club event July 30 in Florence

FLORENCE, Wis. — The Northwoods Geology Club will meet Wednesday, July 30 at the Florence Natural Resource Center, lower level. They will have a brief meeting at 5:30 p.m., with the main event to begin at 6 p.m. Two professional archeologists Kevin Akemann, formerly of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee archeology department and Ryan Howell, lead archeologist for the U.S. Army at Fort McCoy will head up the program. MARINETTE, Wis. — Northern Lights Master Gardeners Association invites the public to the Harmony Gardens Open House from 4 to 7 p.m. today to see what's new in the plant world and enjoy a relaxing evening in a beautiful setting. Geology club to meet

FLORENCE, Wis. — The Northwoods Geology Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the lower level of the Florence Natural Resource Center — follow the Wisconsin Division of Motor Vehicles signs to the parking lot. Ruth and Michael Riesch of the Earthaven Museum will give a presentation titled “Geology and History of Iron Mining in the Lake Superior Region.” The Rieschs have done several presentations over the years and have all been well attended.
