POWERS — North Central Area Schools recently had its National Honor Society Induction Banquet at St. John Neumann Parish Hall in Spalding.

New inductees include seniors Brandon Grondine and Izaac Lauscher; juniors Olivia Arnold, Cheyenne Borucki, Gracey Grondine and Wyatt Riley; and early admission sophomores Bryson Mercier, Ariel Poupore, Dakota Schwark, Sarah Snyder and Katelyn Whitens.

North Central’s chapter of NHS is advised by kindergarten through 12th-grade art teacher Emily Westphal.

In order to be selected as a member of the North Central Chapter of NHS, students need to portray the four pillars of NHS — character, scholarship, leadership and service. Juniors and seniors need to maintain a 3.3 grade-point average, while early admission sophomores require a 3.5 GPA.

All students who are eligible solely based on GPA are given an application letter. After applications are submitted, a faculty council of five teachers meets to vote on students for membership.

Eleven students were inducted during this year’s ceremony.

Starting at $4.00/week.
