Florence library seeks entries for train set giveaway

FLORENCE, Wis. –The Florence County Library has hosted a train show presented by Don and Missy Lison for the past 11 years from 10:30 a.m. to noon on the second Saturday of December .

While no library gathering will take place this year, trains still will be awarded to several lucky children younger than 18 years of age. The children must pick them up in person for a photo opportunity.

Those interested in participating can go the Florence County Library’s Facebook page to register or email to sweber@florencecountylibrary.org. Names also can be added by emailing to flo@florencecountylibrary.org or by calling the library at 715-528-3094.

Names must be in by Dec. 7 so winners can be notified. Each entry must include name, age and phone number to allow the library to contact the winners. Prizes will be awarded between 10:30 a.m. and noon Dec. 12.

In the past, they have had a small operating train layout and demonstrate something different about the toy train hobby each year. This was followed by time to allow the kids to play with the trains they have brought while they gave away train sets to children.

The trains begin with push trains for very youngest child and move up to wooden trains, which have many features and parts but still are powered by hand and imagination. The older kids can win an electric Lionel “O” gauge Thomas the Tank set and, of course, the grand prize, a Lionel Polar Express train set.

The Lionel trains for several years now have been capable of running from the provided control or another device, as they are Bluetooth-capable with an app download.
