Maranatha Messengers provides Thanksgiving fixings for 24 families
KINGSFORD — Twenty-four families in the area were blessed with Thanksgiving meal baskets provided by Maranatha Messengers, a ministry outreach of the Kingsford Maranatha Assembly of God.
The baskets included a family-size turkey, dressing, green beans, mashed potatoes, cranberries, peaches, pie crust, Jell-O, chocolate pudding, milk, Cool Whip and bakery buns –all of the things families need to make a memorable holiday meal, Messengers spokeswoman Carol Fayas noted.
Messengers has regularly distributed food to provide temporary relief to families and individuals who have encountered difficult circumstances.
The completely volunteer operation at 917 Pyle Drive in Kingsford is open from 9:30 a.m. until noon Tuesdays and 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Wednesdays.
Those in need are asked to call ahead at 906-774-7877 to schedule an appointment so they can be served in a safe manner.
Maranatha Messengers was established in 1984 as a vision toward furnishing clothing and food to those in need in the community.
Beginning Wednesday, June 24, Messengers will be open for clothing opportunities as well as for food distribution.
Messengers will continue to follow the guidelines of asking people to call for an appointment, only one person in the building, with a half-hour timeline –wearing gloves and a mask.
Messengers stands alongside St. Vincent de Paul Society and The Salvation Army in providing for those in need.
