Daniel Harrington was selected as 2021 Outstanding Graduate for the Math Science Division at Bay College.

ESCANABA — Bay College annually chooses an outstanding graduate from each of the six divisions at the college, selected by their instructors for academic excellence, leadership and community service.

Dan Harrington was named the 2021 Outstanding Graduate for the Math Science Division, with the award being sponsored by Engineered Machined Products, the Bay College Faculty Association and the Bay College Foundation.

After graduating from Kingsford High School in 2015, Harrington worked a for a few years at U.P. Propane, his family’s business, before enrolling at Bay College in fall 2019.

“Bay College was a perfect way for me to get my feet wet with school again after taking a break after high school. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to further my education,” he said.

In addition to his schooling, Harrington is on the Bay College Norse baseball team.

“Dan is a fantastic young man with so much dedication. He is a great asset to the team, and I m confident he will have a successful future,” said Mike Pankow, head baseball coach.

In April, Harrington will earn an associate in science degree from Bay College. He plans to continue his education toward a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, but is still deciding which university he will attend. His career path stems from his desire to understand the world and the role human beings play in it.

In his free time, Harrington enjoys hunting, fishing, waterskiing and playing sports. He is the youngest of three siblings.
