Legion Fall Conference set

GLADSTONE — Legionnaires throughout the Upper Peninsula will gather for the annual Fall Conference on Saturday at the American Legion Post 71 in Gladstone.

Activities begin at 9 a.m. Eastern time, with a seminar on post finance and adjutant training for Legionnaires serving their posts in this capacity. The seminar will be presented by the American Legion, Department of Michigan.

At 9 a.m. the Sons of the American Legion will meet at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Delta Avenue. The Legion Auxiliary meet at the Gladstone Senior Center at 9:30 a.m.

The 11th and 12th District meetings are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. at the post. The Upper Peninsula Association of American Legion Posts (combined 11th and 12th Districts) will meet at 1:15 p.m. to discuss Legion programs and problems affecting the entire U.P. and to hear committee reports from those Legionnaires attending the Department of Michigan’s Fall Conference at Shanty Creek Resort in Bellaire.

All Upper Peninsula Legion Posts, Sons of the American Legion Squadrons and Auxiliary Units had a representative attend to obtain answers to any questions they may have regarding the district, state or national organizations.

Association Adjutant Ray Carlson asks all Upper Peninsula posts to make plans to host a lunch, dinner or coffee stop during the Mid-Winter Tour.

The Mid-Winter Tour is when all the Legion officials from downstate are invited to tour the U.P. Legion posts in mid-January.
