Nora Flemington scholarship offered through Zonta Club

IRON MOUNTAIN — The Zonta Club of Iron Mountain-Kingsford is again offering the Nora Flemington Adult Educational Scholarship in the amount of $1,500.

The scholarship will be awarded to assist an adult woman who wish to pursue further education in preparation for re-entry into the job market, or to women who have completed their undergraduate degree and wish to pursue graduate or professional studies.

Women applying for this scholarship must be high school graduates, at least 22 years of age or enrolled in an advanced degree program, residents of Dickinson, Iron, Florence, or Marinette counties, and carry a minimum of eight credit hours per semester.

Applications can be obtained at 104 W. A St., Iron Mountain, or by calling Nancy Schaub, scholarship chair, at 906-774-9223 or by email at hsrhnschaub@att.net. Completed applications must be received by June 17.

The Zonta Club of Iron Mountain-Kingsford has offered this non-traditional scholarship to local women for more than 35 years. More than $45,000 in scholarships have been awarded.

“Our club recently celebrated our 40th anniversary. We hope to continue offering this scholarship for another 40 years and beyond. We feel it is important to provide educational opportunities to women who gave been out of high school a while or who are pursuing advanced degrees,” Schaub said.
