IRON MOUNTAIN — The Dickinson County Library has announced upcoming events for May.

–The library’s Summer Reading 2022 Coloring Contest ends on Monday. Children in preschool through fifth grade can drop off posters at all three library sites. Entries will be displayed at the Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain and on the library’s Facebook page for public voting between Tuesday, May 31, and Sunday, June 5. They will announce winners on the first day of Summer Reading on Monday, June 13.

— Gamers’ Club: Monday at 4 p.m. at the main library in Iron Mountain.

This month’s theme is “Throwback to the 2000s,” so the group will be playing a game of participants’ choosing on the Wii console. Although this program is geared toward kids in third through eighth grades, all ages are welcome. Registration is required and is limited to 10 participants, so . call the Dickinson County Library to sign up starting one week before the program.

— Lego Club Jr.: Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the main library in Iron Mountain and Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Norway branch.

This Lego Club for younger children in kindergarten through second grade is perfect for budding engineers. This month’s theme is “Under the Sea,” but participants may build anything they want and then discuss their creation. Registration is required and limited to 10 participants, so call the local library site to sign up starting one week before the program.

— Doctor Dogs-Medical Alert and Response to the Rescue: Wednesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the main library in Iron Mountain.

Penny Beeman and Shanna Stanley-Hall will introduce and talk about their medical response dogs, Azul and Maverick. They will cover information about how these dogs are trained, the types of alerts they do, the benefits of having these types of dogs, and who is eligible for this type of service animal. For teens and adults.

— The Dickinson County Library in Iron Mountain will be closed Sunday, May 29, and all library sites will be closed Monday, May 30, for Memorial Day. Regular hours will resume Tuesday, May 31.
