Tastings, Tapas & Tours slated for June 25 at Iron County Museum
CASPIAN — The Iron County Museum in Caspian is hosting a new fundraiser called Tastings, Tapas & Tours from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 25. The goal is to replenish the Maintenance Fund for repairs to historic buildings on site.
The evening will feature wine tasting, a variety of appetizers, a silent auction and live entertainment. A sommelier will be on site to offer lessons in detecting the subtle aromas and hints of flavors in a variety of wines from Traverse City Winery, Left Foot Charley. Those who don’t prefer wine will have a selection of ales to choose from on tap in the on-site vintage taproom, Toti’s Tavern. Appetizers from Main Street Café are especially designed to pair with the wines.
Live music from piano/violin duo, Joe and Lucy Bolton, will be provided, and attendees will also be able to tour some of the museum’s most popular exhibits where knowledgeable volunteers will be stationed to give historical background and answer questions.
“The museum is home to 25 historic buildings that are in constant need of routine maintenence” said Erika Sauter, museum director. “But there are also some major repairs ahead of us as well, so we hope to see a good turnout for this event as well as general donations so we can continue to preserve our region’s history.”
A $25 donation is required for a ticket, and ticket sales are limited to 150 attendees. Tickets include five wine-tastings, unlimited appetizers, tasting glass, exhibit tours and live entertainment. To purchase tickets, call 906-265-2617 or stop by the museum located at 100 Brady Ave. in Caspian.
