Crystal Falls library lists events

CRYSTAL FALLS — The Crystal Falls District Community Library has a number of classes, story hours, escape rooms and other events planned for January.

­At 5 p.m. Monday, Tom Bucek will run a CPR class. The class is free, but they ask that participants register. The class will run until 7 p.m.

Charlene’s Crochet Class for beginners or those who need a refresher will resume on Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Knitting Lounge. New members are welcome.

From 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Charlene’s Quilting Class will resume. New members are welcome. Contact the library if interested in joining to ensure adequate supplies for the event.

At 3:30 p.m. Thursday, a children’s story hour will study the work of children’s author and illustrator Will Hillenbrand. Several of his stories will be read, including “Snowman’s Story.” They will be making watercolor and crayon winter scenes. Juice boxes and snacks will be provided.

Beginning Monday, Jan. 15, the library will offer a Digital Music Production Class. It will be 5 to 7 p.m. every Monday. Patrons can come to the library to learn about how to make music on a computer, phone or tablet. They will also teach common home recording techniques. Participants are asked to bring a device for the class.

Charlene’s Knitting Class will begin Tuesday, Jan. 16, from 9 to 11 a.m. Those who have needles, yarn or any started projects should bring them to class.

Beginning Thursday, Jan. 18, the library will have a Tech Troubleshooting Lab from 1 to 3 p.m. Anyone with questions or issues with a laptop, phone or other tech device can drop in on Thursdays for assistance.

At 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, Marsha Wainio of the Iron Range Farm Bureau will lead a story hour about peanuts. Several books will be that feature peanuts and Peanut Snowman Pins will be made for a craft. Juice boxes and snacks will be provided.

A craft class will take place at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 25. This month will make leather cord caddies. Class participants must register to join.

On Saturday, Jan. 27, starting at noon, Anthony Kurtz will be hosting The Chocolate Cake Murder Escape Rooms. Each hour from noon to 4 p.m., groups of people will follow clues in order to determine who committed the crime. They will have one hour to solve the mystery, and if they do they’ll be rewarded with a slice of chocolate cake in honor of it being National Chocolate Cake Day. Participants must register for this event.
