First National Bank’s Shred Fest to return

IRON MOUNTAIN — First National Bank & Trust will bring back Shred Fest, set for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 14, in the downtown Iron Mountain stage parking lot.

The event is opportunity for the public to protect themselves from identity theft by safely destroying personal documents.

First National Bank & Trust has once again retained Country Mile Document Destruction Inc. of Stephenson to bring its state-of-the-art mobile shredding truck to Iron Mountain.

All documents will be shredded immediately, on-site. After all data has been destroyed, Country Mile recycles the paper residue.

This service is free to all in the community– residents, home office workers, community organizations and small businesses.

To make the process efficient, participants should bring only paper documents with personal information to the shred site, in paper bags or cardboard boxes. Staples and small clips can be put through the shredder but the documents should have no large binder clips, metal ring binders, plastic covers, books such as phone books or catalogs, or other contaminates.

Those unsure if an item can be destroyed at this event can just separate it from the paper documents so a Shred Fest crew member or Country Mile staff member can evaluate it.

First National Bank & Trust and Country Mile Document Destruction, Inc. reserve the right to refuse materials that will jam or damage the shredder.

Due to heavy volume, guests may bring a maximum of five boxes of personal documents per vehicle to shred.

Donations will be accepted during this event, with all proceeds being donated to the Light at the Inn shelter.

For more information on the event, contact First National Bank & Trust at 906-774.2200 or go to fnbimk.com or facebook.com/fnbimk.

Chartered in 1887, First National Bank & Trust has six locations in Iron Mountain, Kingsford, Menominee and Iron River. It also has the First National Trust & Wealth Management and the First National Bank & Trust Mortgage Production Office in Marquette.
