Fatal crash in Marinette County
MARINETTE, Wis. — A Wausaukee man died and four people were injured in a three-vehicle crash Friday afternoon on U.S. 141 in the Town of Beaver in Marinette County.
A vehicle was northbound on U.S. 141 near East 26th Road about 2:24 p.m. when it crossed the center line and struck two southbound vehicles, according to the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office.
The 25-year-old driver of the northbound vehicle was trapped with fatal injuries. Both occupants of the southbound vehicle that was struck head-on had to be extricated; one was flown by Eagle III medical transport and the other taken by rescue squad to an unspecified hospital with what were described as critical injuries, the sheriff’s office stated.
The other southbound vehicle had three occupants, two of which were injured but only one that needed to be transported for treatment.
Names and additional details in the crash were withheld pending notification of relatives. The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate.
Assisting were Brazeau, Coleman, Crivitz and Pound fire departments; Coleman, Crivitz and Wausaukee rescue; Bay Area Medical Center Paramedics, Eagle III, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Marinette County Medical Examiner’s office.
This was Marinette County’s second traffic fatality of 2019.
