Kingsford schedules fall paving
KINGSFORD — Bacco Construction of Iron Mountain plans to complete paving in Kingsford this year after Oct. 1, City Manager Anthony Edlebeck said.
He said Woodward Avenue from Balsam Street west to Westwood Avenue will be repaved, along with 11 various blocks of deteriorated local streets and 12 blocks of alleys.
The city council Monday accepted Bacco’s $536,440 bid for city paving projects.
The city has $580,000 budgeted in major and local street funds to pave various streets and alleys throughout the city. Bacco was the only bidder on the project.
Edlebeck also reported that three companies offered bids for a new plow/dump truck, ranging from about $150,000 to $175,000, with different options on chassis and truck packages.
U.P. Truck Center Inc. of Quinnesec was low bid with the trade-in of a 1985 IHC truck. UP International Trucks of Iron Mountain was low bid without trade-in.
The bids from U.P. Truck Center with trade-in were: $152,306 with chassis and Olson equipment; $154,823 for chassis and Truck equipment; $156,591 for chassis and Monroe equipment; $167,712 for chassis and Caspers equipment. Without trade-in, the bids were $2,500 higher.
From Kreite Group of Green Bay, Wis., the bids with trade-in were: $159,507 with chassis and Olson equipment; $162,024 with chassis and Truck equipment and $163,792 for chassis and Monroe equipment. The prices are $5,000 more without trade.
The bids from UP International were: $152,736 for chassis and Olson equipment; $155,253 for chassis and Truck equipment; $157,021 for chassis and Monroe equipment; and $168,142 for chassis and Caspers equipment. Prices are $1,500 more without trade-in.
The city has $170,000 budgeted for the plow/dump truck.
