Kingsford tree lighting Dec. 9
KINGSFORD — Kingsford will hold a Tree Lighting ceremony Monday, Dec. 9, at the City Hall.
A parade of lights led by the Kingsford High School band and the city’s new “lit up” fire truck, accompanied by Santa and Mrs. Claus, will leave Kingsford High School at 5:45 p.m. and travel to the City Hall for the tree lighting at 6 p.m.
There will be season selections sung by the KHS chorus, a make-and-take ornament craft conducted by the Dickinson County Library staff at 5 p.m., plus cookies, hot cocoa, warming barrels and a special performance by a local dance academy.
There also will be a sugar cookie contest. Only Kingsford residents can enter and the cookies must be homemade. There will be two categories, decorated and non-decorated. All contestants are asked to deliver one dozen cookies to City Hall between 2 and 4:30 p.m., with name, address and telephone number.
Winners will be announced at the tree lighting.
