Wisconsin men charged in IR overdose death

CRYSTAL FALLS — Two Milwaukee men have been arraigned in Iron County Court, accused of being part of an overdose death in March 2017 in Iron River.

Criminal complaints show Davin Veir-Washington, 28, and Kenneth Greer, 36, are accused of supplying the drugs that led to the death of Jamie Iraci, a 31-year-old born in Racine, Wis.

According to the Iron River Police Department, Veir-Washington was arraigned Nov. 26 on charges of delivery of controlled substance causing death, a felony that carries up to life in prison if convicted; conspiracy to commit controlled substance-delivery/manufacture-cocaine, heroin or another narcotic less than 50 grams, a 20-year felony; two counts of controlled substance-delivery/manufacture-cocaine, heroin or another narcotic less than 50 grams, a 20-year felony; and habitual offender-third offense.

Greer was arraigned Nov. 12 on charges of delivery of controlled substance causing death; conspiracy to commit controlled substance-delivery/manufacture-cocaine, heroin or another narcotic less than 50 grams; two counts of controlled substance-delivery/manufacture-cocaine, heroin or another narcotic, less than 50 grams. Greer is classified as a habitual offender fourth offense.

Washington was incarcerated with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections from drug-related charges in Marinette County and recently was brought back to Iron County, where he is in the county jail.

The Michigan Department of Corrections has Greer on drug-related charges that occurred in

Dickinson County in March 2017 and will be brought back to Iron County for his court proceedings.

This is the second recent case filed over an overdose death in Iron County.

Nicholas Steber, 33, was arraigned Oct. 23 in U.S. District Court in Green Bay on a charge of distribution of a substance containing heroin resulting in death, a felony punishable by a minimum of 20 years in prison.

According to the criminal complaint, he is suspected in a fatal overdose at an Iron County residence in September 2017.

The trial is scheduled to begin Dec. 30. Steber is jailed without bond in Brown County; his Facebook page lists him as being from Florence, Wis., and living in Norway, but federal court papers did not provide an address for him.
