DC District Judge issues activity report
IRON MOUNTAIN — Dickinson County District Judge Julie A. LaCost has issued her activity report for the month of January.
New criminal cases for the month included 22 felonies, 15 misdemeanors, nine OWI/OUID misdemeanors and two felony drunk driving.
New civil cases for the month included 42 general civil cases, 20 small claims cases and four landlord/tenant disputes.
New traffic cases included 98 civil infractions, 22 misdemeanors and 34 non-traffic civil infractions.
Criminal dispositions for the month included three guilty pleas to felonies reduced to misdemeanors, two dismissed, three felony preliminary exams which were waived over to circuit court, two felony drunk driving preliminary exams, one of which was bound over to circuit court and one of which was waived over to circuit court, 28 misdemeanors and 14 OWI/OUID misdemeanors.
Civil Dispositions included 45 general civil, 16 small claims and 10 landlord/tenant.
Traffic dispositions included 101 civil infractions and 25 misdemeanors. There was one non-traffic civil infraction.
The District Court handled seven court trials, four probation violation hearings, 14 drug-sobriety court referrals, one defendant was referred to the Alcohol Highway Safety Program and eight defendants were referred to alcohol counseling. There were nine show cause hearings and five marriage ceremonies.
Funds turned over to the county treasurer totaled $50,023.03. Funds turned over to the court trust totaled $11,969.10.
