Cancellations and closings

— The Kingsford National Guard retirees meeting scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, at the Kingsford Armory has been canceled.

— Fumee Lake Commission meeting scheduled for Wednesday, April 15, has been canceled.

— The Disabled American Veterans Chapter 23 of Iron Mountain monthly meeting set for Thursday, April 16, has been canceled.

— The 16th annual Sustainable Forestry Conference scheduled for April 23 at the Keyes Peak Ski Lodge in Florence, Wis., has been postponed until September, with the date to be announced.

— Iron Mountain-Kingsford GFWC May 1 meeting is canceled. The June 5 meeting is uncertain at this time, but will be announced. The Senior Girls’ Tea set for May 6 is currently postponed. Members will be contacted with more information regarding the possible plans to honor the Iron Mountain and Kingsford senior girls at a later date.

— The Dickinson Conservation District 2020 Spring Tree Sale has been canceled. Those who placed orders for trees or supplies will receive a refund by mailed check or through their PayPal account; processing fees are non-refundable. — The Island Resort and Casino will be closed until further notice. Management will monitor the coronavirus status to determine how it could affect the golf season.

— The Dickinson Area Golden K Club regular meetings every Monday morning have been cancelled until further notice. That includes no singing and bingo on Wednesdays at area nursing homes.

— The physical campuses of Bay College are closed but services will be available online, on the phone, or through email as employees work from remote locations. High speed internet via wi-fi has been extended to outside parking areas on the Escanaba campus and West campus in Iron Mountain for students in need. — Norway Senior Center continues to be closed until further notice.

— Martha’s Soup Kitchen, open on Tuesdays at St. Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Kingsford, will be closed until the public schools reopen.

— Lake Antoine Park Partners Board has moved its annual open house to June 3.

— The St. Vincent de Paul store and donation area in Norway will be closed until further notice. The food pantry is open from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday.

— The Dickinson County Cancer Unit Loan Closet will be closed until further notice. Also, please do not return or donate equipment and leave it outside of the building.

— The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has closed state park campgrounds, overnight lodging facilities and shelters. State parks and recreation areas will remain open provided all visitors adhere to the requirement for proper social distancing — at least 6 feet between yourself and another person — in all areas of the parks.

— The Michigan Department of Transportation is canceling the spring Adopt-A-Highway pickups scheduled for April 18-26 and May 9-17 across the state. The program is planned to resume with a statewide summer pickup scheduled for July 18-26.

— The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources will suspend in-person County Deer Advisory Council meetings and will instead use a call-in format. Meeting dates and times have not changed, and meetings remain open to the public.

— The Niagara Lions spring flower sale has been cancelled. Refunds will be made to those who have already purchased flowers.

— The St. Vincent de Paul thrift store and donation area in Iron Mountain will be closed until further notice. The food pantry is open by appointment between 9 a.m. and noon at 906-779-0749.

— The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has closed to the general public its customer service centers and field offices statewide.

— The American Association of University Women book sale originally set for April 22-25 in Iron Mountain has been canceled.

— American Legion Post 363 of Kingsford has postponed its next meeting to May 6.

— Meetings of the Dickinson County Healthcare pulmonary support group have been postponed until May 14.

— Parkinson Support Group meetings for April and May have been canceled.

— The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is temporarily suspending all public involvement meetings and open houses for design and construction projects.

— The Michigan Department of Transportation will be closing the information lobbies at all Michigan Welcome Centers until further notice.

— All Michigan Secretary of State offices are closed until further notice. Late fees will be waived during this period. Many services will remain available online at Michigan.gov/SOS, although there may be some delays in processing.

— All local Social Security offices will be closed to the public for in-person service. Online services remain available at www.socialsecurity.gov. Local offices will also continue to provide critical services over the phone.

— The 40th annual Norway Spring Classic run/walk set for April 25 has been canceled.

— Northwoods Geology Club will not meet in April.

— The Give Back Gala, formally Mom Prom, sponsored by the Zonta Club of Iron Mountain-Kingsford, has been tentatively rescheduled to Sept. 26 at Pine Grove Country Club.

— The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development cancelled the Food and Ag Housing Town Hall at Bay College in in Escanaba. Individuals interested in offering feedback about housing should take the Housing survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/C2CYPTG.

— National Alliance on Mental Illness Alger Marquette will suspend support groups and educational meetings for the rest of March.

— The Mackinac Bridge Authority will indefinitely suspend its driver assistance program under which employees were available to drive vehicles across the bridge for customers who were uncomfortable doing so themselves.
