Kingsford-based plane reportedly crashes at Rhinelander airport
RHINELANDER, Wis. (AP) — Authorities say one person has been injured when a single-engine plane operated by a Kingsford company crashed at the Rhinelander-Oneida County Airport on Thursday morning.
The Federal Aviation Administration said the single-engine Cessna 208 Caravan crashed about 8:15 a.m. Thursday, flipped over and came to rest wheels-up between a taxiway and a runway.
Airport director Matthew Leitner said the plane belongs to CSA Air Inc., WJFW-TV reported. CSA Air is an express cargo carrier based at Ford Airport in Kingsford, according to the company’s website.
Other news outlets reported the plane was en route from Milwaukee to Rhinelander and was a contract carrier for FedEx. The CSA website states they handle 34 FedEx flights covering daily routes in five states.
Rhinelander police confirm one person has been taken to a hospital with a head injury. No information was available on the pilot’s condition.
The airport has been closed while the FAA goes to the site.
