Memorial Day storm

Severe weather moved through the Iron Mountain area on Memorial Day evening. This storm brought downpours and high gusts of wind. “I have personally never experienced so much cloud to ground lightning in all my storm chasing years,” said Brandon Lake of Quinnesec-based Great Lakes Storm Chasers. “We actually had lightning strike right next to our car and then multiple other strikes within a few hundred yards of our location on top of the hill across from the Iron Mountain Walmart.” The storm caused some power outages but authorities today had no reports of serious damage. “There was a significant amount of rotation within the storm cell but no tornadoes were spotted,” Lake said.
