Marquette County records 58th virus case
Marquette County had the Upper Peninsula’s only new COVID-19 case in state health data posted Monday afternoon.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services site Monday showed Baraga County with one confirmed virus case; Iron County two confirmed cases; Chippewa County two confirmed cases and one probable; Luce County three confirmed cases; Schoolcraft County four confirmed cases; Gogebic County five confirmed cases and a death; Dickinson County six confirmed cases and two deaths; Houghton County seven confirmed cases and one probable; Mackinac and Menominee counties eight confirmed cases each; Delta County 17 confirmed cases, three probable and two deaths; and Marquette County 58 confirmed cases and 11 deaths.
The MDHHS also earlier had separately listed prison inmates as positive in Luce and Chippewa counties.
The U.P. as of Monday afternoon had 123 confirmed positive cases, five probable cases and 16 deaths, according to state figures.
Keweenaw, Alger and Ontonagon counties have yet to report a COVID-19 case in the Upper Peninsula and are the only counties in Michigan not to have at least one positive coronavirus test.
The MDHHS statewide reported 129 confirmed new COVID-19 cases Monday for a total of 58,999 to date. The state had 17 new deaths for 5,673 to date.
Dickinson County Healthcare System on Monday continued to show only three county residents testing positive at its facilities, with two deaths, along with five positives from other counties; those counties were not identified. DCHS had tested 736 people for COVID-19, with eight positive, 701 negative and 27 results still pending. DCHS noted there are several additional sources of testing in Dickinson County.
For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Monday listed Marinette County with 36 cases and three deaths; Forest County with 33 cases and two deaths; Vilas County with eight cases; Florence County with two cases; and Iron County with two cases and a death.
Marinette County Health and Human Services on Monday still listed only two deaths but 37 positive results. Forest County on Monday posted a 34th positive case, again linked to the outbreak at The Bay at Nu-Roc care center in Laona, Wis.
Statewide, Wisconsin on Monday had recorded 21,038 cases of COVID-19, with 646 deaths.
