Trees planted
The city of Iron Mountain received a grant from American Transmission Company, or ATC, for 18 trees, nine each linden and hackberry. The Iron Mountain Tree Board applied for the grant and then made the trees available to residents for $35, which included being planted by the city Public Works Department and a water bag for continuous easy watering. Seventeen of the 18 trees are planted along West A Street. The Iron Mountain Tree Board will target other streets in the city for future grants over a five-year plan. Trees and vegetation are among the features that make communities special places for residents and visitors. Members of the Iron Mountain Tree Board are Virginia Feleppa, Kathy Anderson, Fred Cheshire, Sally Jacobs and Dennis Bal.
