DIDHD: Three new virus cases in Dickinson, one in Iron

Local health officials are reporting another three COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County along with a new case in Iron County.

The additional positives give Dickinson County a total of 19 cases and raises Iron County’s total to eight, the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department posted on its Facebook page Monday afternoon.

Elsewhere in the Upper Peninsula, the state listed two new positives each in Chippewa, Gogebic and Marquette counties, plus single cases in Menominee and Delta counties along with the Iron County case. The state also listed a new death in Delta County. It did not yet have the three new Dickinson County cases.

On the Wisconsin side of the region, that state recorded five new cases in Marinette County to reach 100 total, as well as a single new case in Iron County.

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ data site Monday listed Keweenaw and Ontonagon counties each with one confirmed virus case; Luce County with three confirmed cases; Alger County three confirmed cases and one probable; Baraga County with five confirmed cases; Schoolcraft County with seven confirmed cases; Iron County eight confirmed cases and one death; Mackinac County nine confirmed cases; Gogebic County 14 confirmed cases and a death; Dickinson County 16 confirmed cases, one probable and two deaths; Chippewa County 19 confirmed cases and one probable; Houghton County 25 confirmed cases and two probable; Delta County 28 confirmed cases, six probable and four deaths; Menominee County 42 confirmed cases and three probable; and Marquette County 88 confirmed cases, two probable and 11 deaths. State numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS also earlier separately had prison inmates as positive in Luce and Chippewa counties.

Using strictly the state figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Monday has had 271 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 18 deaths.

The MDHHS reported 384 confirmed new COVID-19 cases in Michigan on Monday for a total of 69,722 to date. The state had seven new deaths for 6,075 to date.

The Dickinson-Iron District Health Department on Monday listed Dickinson County with 19 positives so far, of which two had died, four recovered and 13 are active cases. Iron County has had eight cases, with one death, two recovered and five still active, according to the DIDHD.

Dickinson County Healthcare System as of Sunday showed four cases from Dickinson County and eight cases from other counties; those counties are not identified. DCHS has tested 1,609 people for COVID-19, with 12 positive, 1,513 negative and 84 results still pending. DCHS noted there are several additional sources of testing in Dickinson County.

For the Wisconsin counties in the region, the state Department of Health Services’ COVID-19 data site Monday listed Marinette County with 100 cases and three deaths; Forest County 48 cases and three deaths; Vilas County 17 cases; Iron County 17 cases and one death; and Florence County four cases. As with the Michigan data, the state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports.

Wisconsin had 494 new cases Monday for a total of 36,942 to date. The state recorded no new COVID-19 deaths Monday to remain at 820 to date, according to the DHS data site.
