WAKEFIELD — A male victim who fell at Presque Isle Falls was found unresponsive before being pronounced dead at the scene, said Michigan State Police at the Wakefield post.

Troopers were dispatched at 8:30 p.m. Friday to Presque Isle Campground off County Road 519 in Gogebic County after a 911 caller reported that a subject had fallen from the falls. Troopers located the victim in the water.

Assisting were U.S. Forest Service officers, the Gogebic County Sheriff’s Department, Gogebic County Search and Rescue, Beacon EMS, Michigan Department of Natural Resources officers and dispatchers from Iron County Central Dispatch and Negaunee Regional Communications Center.
