City council meetings tonight; Florence proposes school levy

The Florence County Board of Education will meet at 5:15 p.m. today in the auditorium at Florence High School/Middle School. The agenda includes at COVID-19 update and final approval of the 2020-21 budget and tax levy. At 7 p.m., the board will hold its annual meeting in the auditorium. Agenda items include a presentation and hearing on the budget and a resolution for adoption of the tax levy.

The agenda includes a discussion of the city’s marijuana ordinance and a request to allow the donation of a former medical clinic at 1001 S. Hemlock St. to Family Baptist Church.

Norway City Council will meet at 7 p.m. today via Zoom. The meeting ID is 540-953-054. A public hearing will be held on a request to allow the legal commercial sale and growing of recreational marijuana. The city currently prohibits marijuana establishments within its boundaries. The Florence County Board of Supervisors is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the second floor courtroom of the courthouse in Florence.
