Dickinson virus cases up by 41
23rd death in Iron
Local health officials Friday reported 41 new COVID-19 positives in Dickinson County and 19 additional cases in Iron County, along with a 23rd virus-related death.
According to the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department, Dickinson County now has had 700 confirmed COVID-19 positives and 27 probable cases, with 209 recovered, 20 deaths and 498 cases still active. For Iron County, the department had 436 confirmed cases and 33 probables, with 246 recovered, 23 deaths and 200 cases still active.
For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ COVID-19 data site Friday listed 179 new positives: 36 in Dickinson County; 33 in Marquette County; 31 in Delta County; 19 in Gogebic County; 16 in Houghton County; 14 in Menominee County; 13 in Iron County; six in Ontonagon County; five in Baraga, Schoolcraft and Chippewa counties; three in Alger County; and two in Mackinac County. The state also reduced Luce County’s count by nine.
In total for the U.P., the MDHHS on Friday had Keweenaw County with 19 confirmed cases and two probable; Luce County, 54 confirmed cases and 21 probable, plus one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 86 confirmed cases and seven probable, plus one probable death; Alger County, 91 confirmed, 28 probable and one death; Baraga County, 96 confirmed cases, 18 probable and four deaths; Chippewa County, 97 confirmed cases and 85 probable; Ontonagon County, 102 confirmed and 14 probable; Mackinac County, 131 confirmed cases and 36 probable; Gogebic County, 317 confirmed cases and 126 probable, three confirmed deaths and eight probable deaths; Iron County, 434 confirmed cases and 31 probable, 22 confirmed deaths and three probable; Menominee County, 674 confirmed cases, 83 probable and six deaths; Dickinson County, 700 confirmed cases and 22 probable, 20 confirmed deaths and one probable; Houghton County, 813 confirmed cases, 164 probable, eight confirmed deaths and one probable; Marquette County, 1,041 confirmed cases, 154 probable and 15 deaths; and Delta County, 1,181 confirmed cases and 151 probable, 28 confirmed deaths and six probable. State numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Using only the state figures Friday, the Upper Peninsula has had 5,836 confirmed COVID-19 cases to date and 107 deaths.
The MDHHS reported 3,168 confirmed new COVID-19 cases in Michigan on Friday for a total of 174,388 to date. The state added 11 new deaths Friday for a total of 7,309.
For Wisconsin counties in the region, the state’s COVID-19 data site Friday had 31 new cases in Marinette County, 27 in Vilas County, 14 in Iron County, eight in Forest County and two in Florence County.
The Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Friday had Marinette County with 1,808 confirmed cases, 130 probable cases and 14 deaths; Vilas County, 612 confirmed, 20 probable and seven deaths; Forest County, 494 confirmed, 19 probable and 11 deaths; Florence County, 216 confirmed, 11 probable and seven deaths; and Iron County, 208 confirmed, 45 probable and four deaths. As with the Michigan data, the state numbers are updated daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.
Wisconsin had 5,096 new positives Friday for a total of 220,092. The state added 24 new COVID-19 deaths to reach 1,972.
