Cancer closet donation

With October designated as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, volleyball players from throughout the United States, including the Iron Mountain High School girls volleyball team, were actively involved in that cause. For the 13th straight year, on Oct. 29, the IMHS volleyball team played Westwood High School in Iron Mountain, which they designated as their Volley for the Cure Varsity match. Individuals and businesses helped support their fundraiser, with the money collected donated to the Dickinson County Cancer Unit Loan Closet. Presenting a $660 check to the Loan Closet are, from left, Jeanne Newberry, varsity coach; Diane Schabo, Cancer Loan Closet president; LuLu McCash, team captain; Denny Scelonge, Cancer Loan Closet volunteer. Not shown are team members Leah Larsen, Lexi Hagan, Andie Ellis, Georjee Swartout, Lily Verrette, Alyssa Mendini, Annslee Runsat, McKenna Smith, Hannah Proudfit, Bella Rosenthal, Abby Richer and Lexi Partello. The Cancer Loan Closet members expressed appreciation all those who participated in any way or contributed to their organization.
